Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, I know I sure did. I slept in a lot and also managed to have some turkey this year. Normally my sister and I grab some McDonalds. Last year I think we upped our tradition and had some White Spot. Classy, I know! 😀 This was our first time having turkey for Thanksgiving, and it was quite out of the blue. We hadn’t really planned on it until the very last minute.

My sister decided that we should go to the Pier 7 Restaurant and Bar for their Thanksgiving meal on Sunday evening. I was obviously down for it! For our starters we both chose to have the butternut squash soup. I’d say it tasted like a milder butter chicken. I could have had it with some naan or paratha haha! 😀

It was then followed by the entrée, which was the roasted turkey. It was quite delicious. I think it could have done with some more flavouring, but it was my first time trying something like this. It included mashed potatoes, some roasted veggies, brussel sprouts (which the picky eater inside me did not eat), cranberry sauce (I still don’t know what this was for, but apparently it’s a thing), the turkey of course, with some gravy. Yes, a lot of food indeed.

As for dessert, there were two options and my sister and I picked one of each so we could share them and try them both. I really liked the chocolate lava cake, whilst my sister was a fan of the warm pumpkin tart. It was a win, win for the both of us! 😛

I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! Let me know what you did, and what your traditions are. I would love to know!

Autumn Bucket List

Hello Autumn

Can we talk about how quickly the Summer’s gone by?! Summer has to be my favourite season by far. I know that the colder weather is “cosy” and what not, but I’d just rather be really hot than cold. I like the long, sunny days compared to the dark, dreary fall days. With that being said, unfortunately the seasons are out of my control and I have to embrace the cold 🙁 *sigh*

I made a little bucket list on my Instagram account, but I thought I’d add a couple of new things to it that I plan on doing this Autumn.

  1. One of the perks of living in Vancouver is that there are a lot of cool things happening all the time. The Haunted Trolly tour is one of them! I’m not sure of what to expect but it’s all about new experiences right? I’ll keep you updated on how that goes if I do end up going! Eeek 😮
  2. Going to a Pumpkin patch! Imagine all the cute pictures I could take 😛 It’s obviously all about the pictures when it comes to pumpkins.
  3. Baking Fall themed cookies! Maybe Halloween themed ones.
  4. Carving a Pumpkin! Sooo this is embarrassing – I’ve lived in Vancouver for about 6.5 years and have never carved a pumpkin! This year it must be done.
  5. Do something on Halloween!! I’ve never celebrated Halloween mostly because where I come from, it’s not really a thing. I still don’t get what the fuss is about, but I should probably embrace it if I want to find out? I’ll keep you updated if I do end up doing anything this year.

That’s all I can think of for now. Let me know what’s on your bucket list for Autumn/ Fall. I would love to know and maybe add it to mine!

Until next time,

August 2018 Favourites

Hello Ponderer,

Four more months until the end of the year! 2018 has whizzed by so quickly, I cannot believe it. I’ll be done with uni this year, and I’m feeling a mixture of emotion as you can imagine. Not sure I’m ready to take on the world, but it’s going to happen really soon. The month of August went by too quickly for me. I was off school this month which was amazing. It’s so rare to get a whole 4 weeks off of school! Lets jump into what I loved this lovely, chilled month of August!

Hair stuff

The OUAI leave in conditioner has been life changing for my hair. It smells so heavenly – I’m not even kidding. It leaves my hair feeling so soft, even softer than when I condition it in the shower! I’m definitely getting myself the full size in the Sephora VIB sale.

Lips

A few weeks ago I got myself 2 Anastasia Beverly Hills matte lippies in the shades Rosewood and Stevie. I haven’t gotten a lot of use out of Stevie yet since I think it’s more of an Autumnie/ Wintery shade on my skin tone, however I have been absolutely loving Rosewood. The texture is quite nice too. Because it’s matte it doesn’t leave a glossy residue on the lips which is great.

Snack

In my continuous hopes of trying to eat more healthy and continuously failing, I have been loving this Persian yoghurt dip called “Shallot Yoghurt.” I dip crisps/ chips (whatever you choose to call them) in this delicious dip. I literally eat half a packet of crisps in one go, which is really embarrassing but true.

Shallot Yoghurt

Oily Skin Fix

I have oily/ combination skin which means that my face turns into a disco ball every couple of hours when its hot/ humid. I use oil absorbing sheets to keep the oil in control and love the Equate ones. I’ve tried many different ones over the years and have come to a conclusion that these work best for me. They aren’t like the thin tracing paper sheets which tear really easily which means that they can be dragged on the face. What can I say, I’m not a dabber.

Equate blotting sheets

That’s it from me this month. Let me know what your summer essentials have been. Is there anything that you would recommend I try? I’m always up for trying new things. Let me know in the comments below! 😀

July Favorites 2018

Hey Ponderer,

How’s it going? Today I’m sharing my July favorites with you. Lets get right to it!

Starbucks Tea:

The first thing would have to be my summer favourite Starbucks drink, which is the Peach Citrus White Tea Infusion. I don’t get it with the lemonade  (which a lot of people seem to love), as it’s too sour for my liking.

peach iced tea

Nails:

I recently started doing my own shellac nails at home! I was tired to having to go to various places to get them done, wasting a good few hours at a nail salon, not being satisfied with the nail shapes I was getting, and also being afraid of the nail salon not being sanitary enough. I have been using the Coscleia gel polishes and have really been liking them so far. They are long lasting and do not leave a sticky residue once the top coat is cured. You can see pictures of my nails on my Instagram whenever I change the colours.

Shoes:

I have been loving my first ever pair of Birkenstock. They are so comfy and I’ve been seeing so many people wearing them this summer. They are so easy to wear and go with almost everything! I got mine at SoftMoc.

Birkenstock

TV Show:

I watched the entire series of The Vampire Diaries in about two weeks! I tend to binge watch Tv shows because I can’t wait to know what happens next, and then I have nothing to watch after it’s over! Vampire Diaries was a show I used to watch a few years ago, but never finished watching because of how long it took for the seasons to air.

I enjoyed watching it this time round because I could watch it all in one go. So much happens in every episode and season that it’s hard to keep up with what happened if you watch the show over time. I recommend binge watching this show if you really want to enjoy it. You also need to be open to the idea of the existence of the supernatural for entertainment purposes.

Clothing:

I’ve been loving this sleeveless v-neck dress from Dynamite this summer. It’s airy and comfortable. I think there could have been some lining put in place underneath the skirt of the dress as it is quite sheer. I recommend wearing a slip with this dress to avoid accidentally flashing anyone 😛

Technology:

My airpods have been a game changer. I have been making great use of my airpods this year. I get to move around my apartment whilst listening to musing/  tv shows. The two issues I’ve been having with them is that sometimes it can be a bit of a struggle trying to get them to connect to the bluetooth on my laptop. They also tend to slip out of my ears every now and then, which is really annoying. The only explanation I have for this is that they are designed for the average male user (as most technology is), and therefore they’re too big for smaller ears. *sigh*

That’s it for the month of July. Be sure to check out my June favorites to see what I had on the list then. Also let me know what you’ve been loving this summer in the comments section below!

Talk to you soon,

100% Hotter Review

Today I came across 100% Hotter on Netflix as I was searching for something new to watch. The description of the show made it sound interesting, like Queer Eye where people are given makeovers. I like watching such shows as you can see how happy it makes the individual. You can see how makeover’s in Queer Eye positively impact the individual. It boosts their level of confidence and allows them to envision a brighter future for themselves. Unfortunately this show is far from Queer Eye. I have only watched two episodes of 100% Hotter and can see how problematic it is.

The concept of 100% Hotter is to tone down creative people’s looks. The show begins with random people on the streets seeing pictures of the individual they are about to make “under” and rate their appearance. This itself is problematic on so many levels. Everyone’s opinion on what is “hot” or “beautiful” is different, as it should be. Nobody should have the right to rate someone and bring down their level of confidence. It could be considered bullying.

I noticed that one of the judges pulled off one of the women being made over’s hair extensions even though she repeatedly said “no, stop.” No means no, no matter what the situation is. The judges on this show are rude, judgemental and conceited. They have no respect for anyone coming on the show. They make women who are confident and comfortable in their skin feel like trash, portraying their own insecurities on them.

I give this show a “scary two out of 10,” and do not recommend watching it. I give it a two because I do think that it is entertaining, however I do not agree with the concept of the show. It is a disgrace that such tv shows are being aired on Netflix in 2018. It is not okay to put people down for the way they choose to dress and look. 100% Hotter is designed to turn creative individuals into cookie cutter people.

Let me know what your thoughts are on this show if you’ve watched it. What are your thoughts about the concept of the show? I’m really interested in what you think of it.

June Favourites 2018

Hello Ponderer,

In this post I will be sharing with you three things I have been loving this month of June! Lets get right to it.

Leah Alexandra Jewellery

I have been following Leah Alexandra Jewellery on Instagram for over a year now and I love their jewellery. Last year my sister got me a pair of onyx earrings and a blue topaz ring from this brand, which I wear all the time. This year we decided to go to their annual sale which took place on the 22nd and 23rd of June. We got a couple of lovely pieces that we have already been wearing. We got matching labradorite rings, a pair of turquoise studs- that I had my eyes on last year, an onyx ring and a pink ruby ring (I think – I can’t confirm as I cannot find this ring on their site anymore).

TV Series: Downton Abbey

I came across this series as I was trying to find something new to watch after watching Cable Girls on Netflix. This TV show is set in England during the 20th century. If you like seeing what life was like for people in England during this time period, this is definitely a must watch. It’s so different from life today. You get to see the struggles women had, trying to find their place in society. You also get a glimpse into what life was like during war.  I believe a movie is currently being filmed for Downton Abbey and I cannot wait to watch it when it comes out.

Makeup: NYX Micro Brow Pencil

I believe that brows are the most important part of my face. They frame the face. I found the NYX Micro Brow Pencil at my local shoppers drugstore and decided to try it out. I have been using it for a few weeks now and absolutely love it. I picked the shade ESPRESSO, however I would consider trying the shade BLACK next time since my brows are fairly dark. It does a great job at filling in my brows. This NYX Micro Brow pencil is a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz.

That’s it for the month of June. Check out my May favourites to see what else I have been loving this year. Let me know in the comments section some of your current favourites, I would love to try out some new things!

See you soon,

May Favorites 2018

Hello Ponderer, today I will be sharing with you some of my May favorites. I have tried to include a wide range of items to keep the list interesting. Let me know if I missed anything and you would be interested in seeing in my next months favorites post. Lets get right into it:

Nails:

Summer is approaching soon and so I decided to get my nails done this month. I picked a lovely baby blue shade that I thought would look quite nice on my short nails and suit my skin tone.

I got my nails done at Bello’s Nail salon located in Coquitlam. On their Instagram page, you can see the amazing nail art that they do, and I can’t wait for my nails to grow a little longer so I can get something creative done to them. This was my first time trying out this nail salon and I must say I was really impressed. They were really quick and did a great job. Personally I hate getting a mani and pedi and spending about 2-3 hours at a salon. Normally I have to wait for my pedicure to get done, and then I have to wait for someone to do my manicure. At Bello’s my manicure and pedicure was done at the same time, which meant that I was there for just an hour! I will definitely be coming back here for their quick service. If you visit this place, make sure you make an appointment, as nail salons are often really busy.Shellac manicure

Eye Cream:

I have been using the Stem Cellular Anti Wrinkle Eye Treatment by Juice Beauty. I received this eye cream in one of the VIB Rouge event goody bags recently and thought I should try it out. The packaging is very convenient – you just have to press the top for the cream to come out and then swipe it under your eyes. Pat any access cream with your fingers. I don’t really know if the cream is effective, however there is no harm in trying to prevent wrinkles in that area!Juice Beauty stem cellular anti wrinkle eye treatment

Instagram Account:

I feel like this is a relevant category to add to my favourites since I spend so much time on Instagram. My favourite account this month has been @mayapolarbear – Maya is such a cute Samoyed and her personality is just so adorable! The person running this account is also so funny and posts the most adorable videos, video edits and pictures of Maya. The account very much makes me think of my furry friends back at home, which is why I love following it.

Summer drink:

Matcha, Matcha, Matcha! I have been loving myself a Matcha Slushy on a warm, sunny day! I never thought I would like anything matcha when I first ever saw the green stuff, however Matcha cakes, Matcha ice cream and slushes have been my go to lately. From some of my Internet research, I have learned that Matcha has many health benefits such as it is a great antioxidant. I learned that it has way more health benefits that drinking green tea and that a big “yes please” moment for me right there! If you haven’t tried anything matcha yet, I should warn you that it tastes very green and odd. It does take a little getting used to, but when you consume it through deserts the taste is quite unnoticeable. I just don’t know if the same health benefits apply when mixed with so much sugar!

Sunglasses:

In case you haven’t noticed, I wear glasses on a daily. I’ve tried wearing contacts but I really can’t stand putting them in my eyes – it really freaks me out! I decided to get sunnies with prescription lenses and got mine from Eyebuydirect and I’m really impressed with them. They fit great and the prescription it just right. I need to wear mine more this summer and I’m thinking of getting myself another pair soon! The prices aren’t too bad either which was a great selling point for me.Eyebuydirect

Currently watching TV show:

Lately I’ve been binge-watching Friends on Netflix. I love the show more than I thought I would. I can’t believe I had put it off for so long! A good friend of mine was obsessing about this show last year and so after re-watching all of Gilmore Girls, I decided to give Friends a shot. I’m currently on season 8 and already sad that I’ll be done watching the whole show in no time!

Foot wear:

I recently got myself a pair of these GRADY Steve Madden Slides. I think they’re quite unique. The top is leather and the sole is rubber, making it quite a comfortable and easy to slip on shoe. I can’t wait to get more use out of them this summer. Steve Madden

Hot Chocolate:

I love a nice cup of hot chocolate. I’m always on the hunt for a different type of hot chocolate to try. I found the Silly Cow hot chocolate at Whole Foods. It tastes great, but the packaging makes it really difficult to get the hot chocolate out. You can only fit a teaspoon through the tiny hole even though the instructions say you need 2 tablespoons. I might have to put it into a different container to make things easier. You can also get this hot chocolate off of Amazon. Hot chocolate

That’s it from me for this post. Let me know what some of your favourites are, I love trying out new things. Also let me know if you will be trying out any of the things I have mentioned in this post.

Takashi Murakami At Vancouver Art Galery

On Saturday the 5th of April, I decided to check out Takashi Murakami’s “The Octopus Ate His Leg” at the Vancouver Art Gallery. It was the last weekend that the art pieces were going to be on display at the museum, and so it was the only opportunity I had to go see it. In this post I will share with you some of the pictures I took of his work that I really liked. I will also be sharing a few pictures on Instagram, so be sure to follow me there.

Let me know if you went to see Murakami’s work and what you thought of it. What was your favourite piece? I think mine would have to be the skull in the picture above. I love all the detail that went into that piece.

Make It Show Review And Haul

Make it Show Vancouver took place this past weekend! There were various local, Canadian vendors hosting their own stalls at the event. There items ranged from foods to jewellery and anything and everything in between. The event gave attendees a chance to discover various local businesses.

The event took place at the PNE starting from Friday afternoon up until Sunday evening. My sister and I decided check it out on Sunday afternoon. We already had a few stalls in mind that we wanted to stop at. We discovered them through the Make It Show’s Instagram account.

Here are the items my sister and I decided to buy from the Make It Show. We definitely went overboard, but can you blame us? There were so many amazing vendors!

Flatlay of all the items we bought

To start off, we have the fudge which we have slightly dabbled into and I must say tastes divine! As for jewellery, I have been wearing my opal ring from LanaBetty on the daily! I love it. The owner custom made it to fit my finger, which was so lovely of her. We also got two pairs of earrings from her – triangles and seashells. We also got necklaces with our initials from courtneyraidawnjewelry. They’re super cute! Moving on, my sister and I are excited to try out the soups (in the long packaging to the left), as well the Trudy Ann’s Bombay Masala Chai and Kashmiri Golden Saffron tea! We love drinking tea on a daily. In the centre, we have 3 different types of hot sauces. We couldn’t help ourselves! To the left we have TheDopeSoap! We got the bath salts and balm to help with any aches!

Let me know what your thoughts are. Do you think we went a little overboard? :/ Also, let me know if you attended the event. If you did, what did you buy? I will post a few close up pictures on my Instagram. Be sure to follow me there too.
